“I made a black tea with the last of my water and I dedicate it to Miranda Merron”
23.05.2016
"I cried this morning just thinking about what I have achieved."
Right now Anna Maria Renken is progressing within 100nm from the finish line, enjoying warm and sunny weather, flat seas and a light breeze. The sixth of seven Class40s that have finished or are still in the race, Anna should cross the finish line in the Big Apple at around 0500am tomorrow morning.
Speaking with the skipper this morning she reported:
“I’m going in the right direction and at the right speed and I’m watching the miles that I cover. I made a black tea with the last of my water and I dedicate it to Miranda Merron. This black tea is what Miranda drank all the time when I was her preparateur - it my dedication to her.
“I’ve only made it will a little water, as what I have is limited. I was not planning on spending 21 days at sea. I just have one litre left and 10 cans of Red Bull.
“I still have problems with my leg and I’m feeling quite low. I think that when I arrive I will be a little crazy. I cried this morning thinking around what I have achieved. It’s just huge and something I will tell my girls about. It’s great and I’m very proud.
“I’m looking forward to seeing my team and returning to civilisation.”
